The approach from the south is from the Weir intersection (A127) up the hill to the Town Centre. There are no buildings of any great significance on this stretch of the road, however, there are some fine detached houses with a variety of mature trees which enhance the general appearance of this approach to Rayleigh.
The Paul Pry Public House stands on what is probably the highest point of this road (about 80 metres above sea level) just past the junction of Ridgeway and the High Road. It was completely refurbished inside and out in 1997.
