As you approach the Town Centre along Eastwood Road, there are two Churches worthy of mention. Firstly the Methodist Church which is situated well back from the road and stands in spacious grounds. It was opened in November 1934. A Welcome Area was added to the front elevation in July 1996.
Further along on the same side is Finchfield, a group of bungalows for the elderly. Next is the Evangelical Church which was originally built by the `Peculiar People', a sect very strong in Essex in former years, who previously worshipped in the old Women's Institute Hall in Bellingham Lane.
King George's Court comprises retirement flats adjacent to King George's Field, and was completed towards the end of 2000.
