Grafitti artist arrested
Local PCSO Andy Hill
I am a local PCSO based at Rochford police station. I am currently doing
some work trying to help convict a local graffiti artist responsible for the
graffiti tag WEAR. You may have seen an article in the newspaper of this
tag on a business in Hullbridge.
I currently update a graffiti database and this tag has appeared across our
area well over 100 times on local businesses and communal areas.
The person we believe to be responsible has been arrested by BTP (transport
police) & believed that this person has caused at least £100,000
worth of damage across rail line.
The idea is to release an article in the local newspaper asking for someone
to come forward who may be able to provide additional evidence to support
our case. BTP are going to ask Network Rail if they are willing to provide
cash towards an award to the person who provides the evidence.
The purpose of this e - mail is to ask if your company is willing to
contribute to an award for evidence that leads to this conviction. If you
are able to help please can let me know so I can inform British Transport
Police.
Surveys
show that fear of crime is exacerbated by graffiti. Graffiti costs rail
firms over £5m a year in direct costs alone. The cost on cleaning the
graffiti and the potential loss of revenue on our local businesses due to
this individual would be high also.
I have attached a document of some photos of this graffiti in Hullbridge. I
apologise for the offensive language that is shown, unforunatley this is
what the residents of Hullbridge see everytime they come and go from the
village.
